Learn the importance of finding your “kingpin” in business and how to free it up for more productivity, flow, and creativity.
I was looking at an old logging factory image the other day and in the image, the men were dropping large numbers of recently chopped trees into the river to float downstream to the waiting distribution center. In the image, the trees had come to a standstill in a smaller channel of water and caused a “logjam”.
It dawned on me as I stared at the image that often in our lives and in our business we encounter logjams of our own. In response, we get frustrated and react irrationally and this only results in further exacerbation of the problem. This knee-jerk response is impulsive and irresponsible at best.
Back to the image, there were men standing on the larger logs at the mouth of the jam attempting to locate the “kingpin” and free the logs. The kingpin is the cause of the logjam.
How can we take a breath and locate our personal kingpin to enable our logs to flow freely again down our river?
Perhaps our kingpin is a simple adjustment, but if we don’t take a beat, step back and look introspectively at the problem, we will never locate the clog.
We all have our own personal logjams, those issues that seem to constantly crop up and prevent us from achieving the success we desire. The good news is that once we identify these roadblocks, they become much easier to remove. By taking a breath and becoming introspective, we can locate our logjam and free it. And if you’re looking for some help identifying your own business logjams, reach out to us – we’d be more than happy to offer some guidance.
